The Westminster Diocesan Child Protection Officer
provides a focal point for the entire Diocese on issues relating
to child protection and the protection of vulnerable
adults.
The purpose of his role is to ensure that children, when
involved in the Church are in a safe environment and that adults
are aware of what is expected of them. He is also tasked with
establishing structures in parishes to protect children and
undertakes training programmes, risk assessments of clergy and
lay persons and assists investigations by Police and Social
Services.
The Child Protection Officer is an appointment of the
Archdiocese of Westminster, reporting to the Diocesan Child
Protection Commission. He is, however, based at the main office
of the Catholic Children’s Society (Westminster) and
managed by the Society’s Director.
