Families who approach our counselling and therapeutic services entrust us with
the difficult task of helping them to resolve complicated personal difficulties.
Improvements cannot be achieved overnight. We choose to work intensively with
such families to help them achieve fundamental change. This means that whilst
the number of families helped is not great, on average 400 a year, we can confidently
claim to improve the prospects of their continued family life.
Intervention, in time, can help adults to better understand the strains on their
marriage and family life and help them find ways of tackling these to prevent
the family splitting. Of course, in some cases families do break down but in these
instances we work with family members to help keep lines of communication open
and to encourage calm discussion about the past, present and future. This prevents
the dreadful bitterness and anger that can mar their future life and relationships.
Where problems are beyond our remit, we refer on to other appropriate services.
