Support us
Society funding broadly comes from:
- Fee income – for individual pieces of work paid for by local authorities or others
- Investment income – Interest from capital which is invested to cover the cost of core services. Note: As an Adoption Agency we have an acknowledged higher level of reserves to ensure longevity, which will enable current adoptees to access our services once they have grown to adulthood.
- Legacies – income from those who want to support future generations by remembering us in their Will
- Voluntary income – Donations from individuals, companies, schools, parishes, grant making bodies and others
The greater pressure on all charities to find funding means
that it is only with the support from the general public and
interested parties that we can reach out to so many children and
families each year – and we have only scratched the
surface of the need we see on a daily basis!
How YOU can support our work:
Make a bequest
If you would like to help future generations of children by making a charitable
bequest, please email us or telephone on 020 8969 5305 for our leaflet THEIR Future... is in YOUR Hands. All legators
are remembered in our annual Mass for Benefactors.
In Memoriam gifts
We are increasingly benefiting from In Memoriam gifts from the family, friends
and colleagues of people who have died and where donations towards our work have
been requested in lieu of flowers at the funeral.
We are sensitive to the privilege we are being shown through such support and
the deceased, family, friends and colleagues are all remembered at our annual Mass for Benefactors.
Friends of the Catholic Children’s Society (Westminster)
Regular support is of vital importance in helping us to be
able to plan with confidence for the future knowing that the
consistent, generous support of our well-wishers will enable
us to achieve our goals on behalf of children and families
in need. By becoming a friend of the Catholic Children’s
Society, you will help provide a cornerstone to our work.

Bishop Harvey Memorial Play Area Appeal
The area we aim to refurbish:

How it could look:
This live Appeal aims to create an accessible and safe play area at St Margaret’s
Family Centre from the existing play area and through the reclamation of unused
land. A sensory garden is also planned. Contact us to find out how you can support
this £120,000 Appeal in memory of Bishop Philip Harvey, OBE who was associated
with the Society for 49 years.
Join a local committee
We are setting up a committee structure around our projects to help
promote their presence locally and also to look at fundraising support.
We are looking for people with the time, commitment skills and local
networks to enable us to make the most of local support and views. We
are concentrating on setting up committees around:
- Bishop Harvey Family Service, Hendon – Child and adolescent psychotherapy
- St Francis’ Family Centre, Poplar
- St Margaret’s Family Centre, north Kensington
- Homelessness Team, central London
- St Vincent’s Family Service, Hanwell – Family
Therapy
For more information please email us.
Become a Parish Representative
We are actively recruiting people to become our representatives in their parish.
This will involve, with the agreement of your parish priest, accepting our literature
four/five times a year and either distributing it by hand or by putting it out
at the back of the church. Parish Representatives can also help us by lobbying
for the Society to be the recipients of the parish Crib Appeal and other suitable
fundraising opportunities. Some Parish Reps like to initiate fundraising events,
but should this not appeal, you might be able to suggest others who would be interested
in helping. As a Parish Rep we will keep you involved with Society news and objectives
through our quarterly newssheet, Parish Rep Post. To find out if there is a Parish
Rep vacancy in your parish, click here.
Become a volunteer speaker
We are keen to build up a bank of volunteer speakers to speak on our behalf in
parishes and schools. If you have the skills and would be interested in representing
us locally, please email us to arrange a discussion.
Hold an event
Why not stage an event for us – in your home, your parish, your workplace.
Or, get yourself sponsored to take part in the local 5 mile run, swimathon, or
similar. For a fundraising ideas sheet and to talk over any ideas you might have, please email us.
The CCS Coffee Morning & Bring and Buy
We hold a Diocesan wide Coffee Morning & Bring and Buy
each year. This year it will be held on w/c Sunday 9th October.
If you would like to organise something for us in your parish
or at home or in your workplace, please email
our Appeals Officer.
Sponsorship opportunities
Companies and individuals may be interested in supporting some of our fundraising
events through general financial backing, sponsorship of publications, our website
or specific gifts in kind. Companies may also be interested in linking into a
local project and, through employee fundraising and perhaps matched giving, providing
much needed resources or sponsoring individual children to use services. For more
information about sponsorship opportunities, please email us.
Gifts in kind
As we no longer have Society transport, we are unfortunately no longer able to
accept large items of furniture or electrical goods. However, we do need regular
supplies of good quality children’s toys and clothes for distribution to
families in need, particularly towards Christmas time. If you can help and you
can deliver, we would be happy to hear from you. We can, in exceptional circumstances,
collect items.
Family Services
We are also happy to hear from companies who might have good quality office equipment
that they no longer need and can deliver. If you can help us, please email us.
