Stay and Play

St Mark’s Park Stay and Play in North Kensington offers parents a vibrant safe and welcoming space for children to run around freely and to play safely outside.

You may ask what is CCS doing in this affluent area?  It’s true; the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea has some of the most exclusive residential areas in London with property amongst the most expensive. It also has the second highest average income in the Capital. However, this prosperity is not shared equally. Many of the families we work with come from areas in the borough which are in the top 10% most deprived in the Country.

Stay and Play enables parents who may be:

  • isolated
  • experience language difficulties
  • have no open space to allow their child to play safely
  • find it difficult to meet and socialise with other families  and to relax away from home.

The play area means children can learn new skills from an exciting range of both individual and group activities within a safe and welcoming environment. Here parents can share their skills and knowledge under professional care and encouragement.

Often one of the biggest challenges for parents is finding the courage to step through the gates to gain access to valuable services like Stay and Play.

“Parents often lack confidence. This can prevent them from accessing services for themselves and their children. We always make sure that they feel welcomed and valued when they visit because we provide them with new experiences and opportunities that can really help to make their lives better – St Marks Stay and Play Worker Opening hours are from 12.30pm to 4pm, Monday to Friday.
